Intuitive Machines - West is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to support our AI initiatives, including the development and expansion of Large Language Models (LLM)-powered applications and related infrastructure. This role will focus on building integrations and deploying AI solutions in an AWS environment. This role can be based in Mountain View, CA or remotely in the US.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in integrating and indexing legacy enterprise applications and databases with LLM applications
Support deployment and management of AI/ML solutions using AWS Bedrock in AWS GovCloud environments
Help implement secure, compliant AI infrastructure meeting aerospace and government requirements
Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve AI system performance and reliability
Collaborate with IT, security, and business teams to identify AI use cases
Document architectures, APIs, and deployment procedures
Required Qualifications
Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
Coursework or project experience in Python and at least one other programming language (Java, Scala, C++, etc.)
Foundational knowledge of relational databases and SQL
Understanding of network protocols and concepts (TCP/IP, HTTP, REST APIs)
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) through coursework or personal projects
Understanding of LLM concepts and AI/ML fundamentals
Experience with version control systems (Git)
Preferred Qualifications
Internship or co-op experience in software development
Coursework or projects involving AWS services
Familiarity with PostgreSQL or other relational databases
Knowledge of LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar LLM orchestration frameworks
Experience with Docker or containerization concepts
Experience with CI/CD pipelines or DevOps practices
Familiarity with build tools (Gradle, Maven, etc.)
Personal or academic projects demonstrating AI/ML applications
Interest in aerospace, defense, or regulated industries
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
Excellent communication and documentation skills

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
● The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $66,000.00 - $111,000.00 annually.
● The base pay for this position within New Jersey is: $66,000.00 - $111,000.00 annually.
● The base pay for this position within Delaware is: $66,000.00 - $111,000.00 annually.
● The base pay for this position within California is: $77,000.00 - $128,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
