To support the Climate Resilient Agriculture and Livelihoods project in Southern Tunisia, the part-time Climate Risks Agrometeorologist Specialist will analyze climate-related hazards, assess climate impacts on agriculture, and synthesize climate data to enhance project resilience from a home-based environment over a four-month duration.
Key responsibilities
• Analyze historical and future climate data to assess impacts on the agricultural sector
• Collect and synthesize climate and agricultural production data to inform project strategies
• Develop crop suitability maps and provide recommendations for integrating climate risk considerations into project proposals
Required qualifications
• Advanced university degree in climate science, environmental sciences, agricultural climatology, or a related field
• At least five years of relevant experience in climate change adaptation and agrometeorology
• Working knowledge of English at a level C proficiency
• Familiarity with programming languages (R), GIS software (Q-GIS, ArcGIS), and web-based coding interfaces (Jupyter Notebooks)
• Strong analytical skills and experience in climate risk assessments related to agriculture
