Hearings Officer The Agency's mission is to be boldly innovative in improving the health and quality of life for South Carolinians. This position is located in Appeals and Hearings, Richland County. This is an in-office role and not a telecommute or remote position. Are you the One? We are looking for a Hearings Officer who, under the Program Manager II's supervision, serves as a hearing officer in the Division of Appeals and Hearings, presides over Medicaid fair hearings and appeals, and serves as a team player by providing program guidance and consultations to other hearing officers. State Retirement Plan and Deferred Compensation Programs. Minimum and Additional Requirements: A bachelor's degree and experience in social services, or administrative hearings. Additional Requirements: Occasional overnight travel. Requires holder to drive routinely. Overtime and/or weekend work with Deputy approval. Sitting or standing for long periods of time. Lifting requirements: 20 lbs. Valid driver's license. In-office role. Preferred Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of Medicaid and/or Social Security Disability laws, regulations, and policies. Excellent reasoning and writing skills. Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Must be able to communicate and interact with both unsophisticated and sophisticated parties. Organizational skills and the ability to make and keep schedules.
