The Student Educational Technology & Integration Specialist partners with the colleges Information Technology (IT) department in the implementation and maintenance of Degree Works, a degree audit and student educational planning tool. This position is responsible to both train on and provide user support for Degree Works tools and troubleshoot any issues or concerns related to Curriculum, Registration, and Advising. Additionally, this position serves as a Student Educational Technology Specialist and is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing remote learning and academic technology support services including online resources.
Responsibilities:
- Student Educational Technology Specialist responsibilities:
- Develop rapport and constructive working relationships with remote students, staff, and faculty.
- Establish and maintain a presence for student questions and consultation through phone, email, and virtual communication.
- Work in consultation with faculty, student services, and administration to identify, contact, and assist students; establish and maintain departmental relationships to facilitate student success.
- Provide classroom, online and remote training on the Learning Management System and academic technologies.
- Provide referrals to appropriate student service departments regarding academic issues students may encounter to help overcome obstacles to student academic success. Examples of resources and support may include disability services, advising, collaborating with instructors, English language learner services, tutoring, academic support resources, etc.
- Handle all incoming communications from students in an expedient and professional manner.
- Research and analyze available educational technology and software to support online students.
- Develop and maintain online learning resources training modules for students (e.g., tutorials to support knowledge of CVTC technologies, success seminars, Online Learner Resources webpage) as needed.
- Collaborate with Instructional Technologist, Educational Technology Specialist, Academic Services and IT to assure appropriate technical documentation is available for students, for technology training.
- Research and identify best practices for providing learning support services to remote students.
- Promote remote learning support services through student events and faculty professional development sessions.
- Integration Specialist responsibilities:
- Coordinate Degree Works scribe environment; troubleshoot, revise, and implement new/updated scribing.
- Lead communication with vendor regarding Degree Works implementation.
- Track updates, issues, and changes to Degree Works and implement and coordinate the resolution.
- Support the ongoing maintenance of Degree Works software.
- Communicate with departments and Ellucian action line and ticketing regarding errors in Degree Works functionality.
- Lead implementation, testing, and ongoing day-to-day operation activities of the degree audit and student education planning in Degree Works in partnership with IT.
- Create new/updated program templates for use in Student Education Planning plans and modules.
- Develop new/updated embedded online degree planning module in Degree Works.
- Review and update existing Degree Works coding/scribing rules each academic year to ensure accuracy.
- Provide ongoing institution-wide user support and annual Degree Works training to faculty, advisors, and staff.
- Establish, revise, and implement policies and procedures for using Degree Works in collaboration with IT, Records and Registration, and Advising.
- Update processes and procedures with Degree Works with institution-wide users.
- Collaborate with departments to embed online readiness and success module and assessment into courses with low success rates.
- Disseminate online course data to provide targeted support for faculty in online learning delivery to increase student success rates.
- Support faculty to implement research-based current practices in online learning delivery instruction.
- Research and identify trends in online learning to ensure quality.
- Keep current in techniques and procedures used in the design, development, and evaluation of online learning delivery instruction.
- Recommend changes to existing courses, including technology or instructional methods, to better support online course delivery.
- Participate on the Banner User Committee (BUC).
- Assist and support with educational technology department initiatives.
- Attend conferences and training on distance learning and educational technology.

- Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel (i.e., access to reliable transportation) to regional campuses as needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, education, training & development, distance learning or related field.
- Minimum of three years of related work experience (e.g., post-secondary education, programmer analyst).
- Minimum of three years of experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or data base system(s).
- Minimum of three years of experience with report writing tools (e.g., Cognos, Hyperion, Crystal Reports).
