About the Role Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Concept Artist to spearhead the visual development of our upcoming projects in the vibrant city of Boise, Idaho . This pivotal role involves guiding a team of talented artists to establish and refine the unique aesthetic, mood, and style of our productions. You will be instrumental in translating creative briefs and narrative ideas into compelling visual concepts that define the look and feel of our games, films, or other entertainment media. This position requires a strong artistic foundation, exceptional leadership capabilities, and the ability to inspire and motivate a creative team. You'll work in a dynamic environment where innovation and artistic excellence are paramount. Key Responsibilities Lead and mentor a team of concept artists, providing direction, feedback, and support to ensure high-quality visual output. Develop and maintain the overall visual style and direction for projects, from initial sketches to detailed environment and character designs. Collaborate closely with directors, art directors, game designers, and other stakeholders to interpret creative vision and translate it into tangible visual concepts. Create high-quality concept art, including character designs, environment designs, prop designs, and mood paintings. Establish and communicate art style guides and visual targets for the wider art team. Conduct research and gather references to inform the design process and ensure historical, cultural, or stylistic accuracy where needed. Present concepts and design directions to the team and stakeholders, articulating the rationale behind artistic choices. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in concept art and visual development. Requirements Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in concept art for games, film, or related entertainment industries, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role. Exceptional portfolio demonstrating a wide range of artistic skills, including strong drawing, painting, composition, color theory, and design principles. Proficiency in digital art software such as Photoshop, Procreate, and potentially 3D software (e.g., ZBrush, Blender) for concepting. Proven ability to lead, inspire, and manage a team of artists effectively. Strong understanding of visual storytelling and narrative design. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adapt to evolving project needs. Experience with defining and maintaining a consistent art style across a project. Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Illustration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
