This is a fully remote position with a U.S. based company.
The Medicaid Team Lead is primarily responsible for overseeing cases and people management of their team of Eligibility & Application Support Specialists, as well as Administrative Assistants.
The Team Lead seeks to foster a high performance team, ensure quality of their work, and ensure the team reaches monthly goals of case submissions and closures. The Manager supports the Specialists on their cases and with client escalations, when appropriate.
The Team Lead should possess significant experience in small team leadership, goal setting, performance management, and customer service in a professional service setting. The Manager should be familiar with the Medicaid planning process, eligibility, and the strategies used to achieve results.
Specific Job Responsibilities
Directly oversee a team of 3-4 people including interviewing and hiring for replacements
Serve as team leader by assessing and developing employees through continuous training and mentoring
Oversight of direct reports, ensuring efficient management of the team and client caseload
Effective delegation and engagement, modeling leadership behaviors
Work with the Director of Medicaid Teams to conduct monthly, quarterly and annual performance reviews; address disciplinary issues when necessary
Issue Performance Improvement Plans for individual team members when appropriate and ensure appropriate follow up and evaluation for sustained improvement.
Work with the Sr Manager Medicaid Teams to evaluate team bandwidth and delegation of tasks
Learn, understand, and research both federal and state Medicaid LTC regulations & eligibility guidelines
Evaluate cases to facilitate customized eligibility planning strategies for each client
Serve as adviser on case issues so Medicaid Specialists can accurately process applications within required timelines
Resolve escalated issues arising from the Medicaid application process
Hold regular team, and individual direct report, meetings to keep staff updated on process and policy changes
Promptly respond to client questions or concerns when needed
Follow company data security policies to ensure client information is secure
Validate biweekly time cards within RIPPLING
Be proficient with company productivity tools (CRM database, Google Docs, Adobe PDF editor, online “snail mail”, etc)
Utilize tracking systems to report data-driven progress towards goals; reviews monthly productivity reports with Sr Manager Medicaid Teams
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
English fluency and professional written and verbal communication skills
Minimum 3 years in a supervisory role with people management experience
Experience with managing and training direct reports; talented at identifying strengths and sources of confidence in team members
Working knowledge of long term Medicaid, including processing applications and a thorough understanding of Medicaid LTC eligibility rules
Ability to think strategically and contribute to process and system improvements Demonstrated ability to understand financial assets, such as IRA’s, life insurance policies, annuities, trusts, etc.
Ability to analyze financial data using spreadsheet calculations; high comfort level with math.
Experience with complex problem solving and process improvement techniques
Ability to collaborate within a team environment; self aware and able to accept constructive feedback from team members
Strong planning and organizational skills
Responsible self-starter who keeps commitments to deadlines
History of working successfully with individuals and groups representing a range of cultural backgrounds, orientations, and life experiences
Experience with file and document management
Proficient in Google Suite of products, including Google Docs and, particularly, Google Sheets
Proficient using pdf editing software, such as Adobe Acrobat
Preferred Qualifications
● Professional background in the Medicaid long term care industry
● Hands on case management experience
● Experience working in a fully remote environment, using cloud based productivity tools
● Experience using a CRM or similar project management database
● Understanding of how to generate spreadsheet reports from a database or CRM
