Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. WVU Medicine is part of the West Virginia University Health System, and they are seeking an Accountant II to perform a wide range of financial functions to support the budget process. The role involves departmental analysis, reconciliations, billing, and various productivity analysis.
Responsibilities
- Develop strong relationship with Department managers to help coordinate and monitor financial controls over the hospital’s cost centers according to approved budget guidelines
- Evaluate financial processes to maximize efficiency in the daily accounting operations. Ensure that internal control measures are being followed
- Maintain general ledger in order to complete and submit accurate financial data during month-end process according to predetermined deadlines. Investigate and communicate variance issues to supervisor/manager of the department and Controller
- Develop and submit analytical financial data as needed by supervisor or department director/manager
- Assist in completing and compiling financial support documentation for budget and external audit purposes
- Ensure duties of any specialty focus (i.e., project, cost accounting, etc.) are completed accurately and timely
- Participate in educational opportunities as provided by the hospital to enhance skill related abilities
- Support performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives
Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- Two (2) years of accounting experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with computer databases and spreadsheet software, with strong understanding of Excel
- Ability to work with computer databases and spreadsheet software
- Hospital based or healthcare accounting experience
