Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. FBGS is a leading provider of fiber optic sensing solutions, seeking a Business Development Consultant for the Americas. The role involves managing customer relationships, developing new business opportunities, and coordinating with engineering teams to support technical sales efforts.
Responsibilities
- Manage and grow existing customer relationships throughout the Americas, with a primary focus on the United States and Canada
- Serve as the primary commercial contact for assigned customer accounts
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with engineering, purchasing and executive stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to expand business within existing customer accounts
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across FBGS target markets
- Generate, qualify and manage a sustainable pipeline of opportunities
- Develop market penetration strategies for key applications and industries
- Conduct customer outreach, networking and relationship-building activities
- Drive opportunities from initial engagement through commercial closure
- Understand customer requirements and translate them into technical and commercial proposals
- Coordinate closely with FBGS engineering, product management and operations teams in Europe
- Support technical discussions, feasibility assessments and proof-of-concept projects
- Prepare quotations, proposals and commercial offers
- Follow up quotations and actively manage opportunities through the sales process
- Support contract negotiations and commercial discussions
- Assist customers during product evaluations, onboarding and implementation activities
- Represent FBGS at customer meetings, trade shows, conferences and industry events
- Identify emerging applications, market trends and strategic growth opportunities
- Develop relationships with OEMs, distributors, system integrators and strategic partners
- Support the establishment of channel and partner networks throughout the Americas
- Monitor competitive developments and provide market intelligence to FBGS management
- Provide regular feedback regarding customer needs, market requirements and product opportunities
Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in technical sales, business development, account management or related commercial roles
- Proven success in developing customer relationships and generating new business opportunities
- Experience selling technology-driven products, systems or solutions
- Ability to manage complex and consultative sales processes
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Experience working independently and managing customer relationships remotely
- Experience with OEM customers and long-term development projects is highly desirable
- Bachelor/ Masters degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, Photonics, Business Engineering or a related discipline
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and commercial stakeholders
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands-on approach
- Experience in one or more of the following industries is highly desirable: Sensors & Monitoring Systems, Photonics and Fiber Optics, Medical Devices, Semiconductor Equipment & Manufacturing, Energy & Infrastructure Monitoring
- Experience with fiber optic sensing, Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBGs), optical instrumentation or related technologies is considered a strong advantage but is not required
