The Software Cost Engineer will analyze, implement, validate, and optimize healthcare cost-processing solutions while collaborating with product owners and ensuring high-quality outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade software applications and services using C#, Rust, and related technologies
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database solutions to support high-volume transaction processing
- Design and implement APIs, data integrations, and services utilizing JSON and modern integration patterns
- Analyze, develop, and support EDI transaction processing, including troubleshooting and enhancement of inbound and outbound data exchanges
- Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to long-term technical strategy and platform modernization efforts
- Ensure application performance, scalability, security, and reliability through best engineering practices
- Conduct code reviews and provide technical mentorship to software engineers and developers
- Support production environments by investigating issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions that improve system stability, reliability, and performance
- Create and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and operational procedures
- Work closely with healthcare and benefits subject matter experts to ensure solutions align with industry standards and business requirements
Skills
- Typically has Bach. +2-3 yrs; Masters +0 yrs Attends company training and regional training in area of expertise. Presents own work to members of department
- Requires proficiency using AI tools skillfully with an understanding of how to develop/create intelligent prompts and/or agents
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Rust
- Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases
- Experience with big data frameworks (Hadoop, Spark) and streaming technologies (Kafka)
- Familiarity with cloud-based data solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and distributed systems
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Deliver robust and scalable data solutions with minimal supervision
- Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex data workflows
- Exhibit strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams
