The role involves developing and enhancing tax compliance products, executing software security testing, and managing cloud services and CI/CD pipelines.
Responsibilities
- Develop, modify, and enhance Vertex’s tax compliance products’ source code - 10%
- Execute and analyze software security, code, and unit testing on all products - 5%
- Leverage knowledge of tax domains to calculate and report - 5%
- Administer and support Linux/Unix, Windows, and IBM Power Systems (IBM i) operating environments - 5%
- Write automation and utility scripts using Python and Shell scripting - 10%
- Manage source code repositories and automating builds using Git, GitHub, and Jenkins - 5%
- Implement and support CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and automated deployment - 5%
- Develop and maintain business applications using RPG and COBOL programming languages - 5%
- Program in C/C++ and writing database-driven procedures using PL/SQL - 5%
- Integrate enterprise systems using ERP/HCM APIs, such as Oracle, Workday, Microsoft, or SAP - 5%
- Manage and deploy applications using AWS cloud services and Kubernetes container orchestration - 10%
- Create and execute automated web testing using Selenium and Cypress tools - 5%
- Build and maintain web or enterprise applications using Java - 5%
- Work within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) across the full software development lifecycle - 5%
- Interpret indirect tax rules and regulations (sales and communications tax) to support software design and documentation for compliance-related systems - 5%
- Train and apply artificially intelligent models using tools such as Microsoft Copilot to enhance software development and business processes - 10%
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field
- 5 years of development experience supporting Linux/Unix, Windows systems, including scripting languages
- 5 years of experience interpreting indirect tax rules and regulations (sales and communications tax) to support software design and documentation for compliance-related systems
- 3 years of development experience supporting IBM Power Systems (IBM i), including scripting using REXX
- 3 years of experience implementing and supporting CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and automated deployment
- 2 years of experience integrating enterprise systems using ERP/HCM APIs, including at least two of the following: Oracle, Workday, Microsoft, or SAP
- 2 years of experience programming in C/C++, JAVA, and Python
- 2 years of experience development and maintaining business applications using RPG and COBOL programming languages and writing database-driven procedures using PL/SQL
- Eligible to work remotely 100% from anywhere in the continental U.S
