The Underwriting Analyst role involves supporting pricing and underwriting processes, collaborating with teams to refine financial models, and contributing to the development of pricing strategies.
Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day pricing and underwriting activities for new and renewal business opportunities under the guidance of senior team members
- Partner with the Underwriting Team and cross-functional groups to help maintain and enhance underwriting processes, financial models, and reporting procedures
- Assist senior underwriters with the development and execution of pricing strategies
- Contribute to underwriting presentations by preparing materials and supporting documentation, including identifying potential risks for review
- Gather, review, and organize external data to support underwriting analysis and decision-making
- Assist in the analysis and development of pricing models for new and existing products
- Manage assigned tasks across multiple projects, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met
- Support ongoing maintenance and enhancements of underwriting and financial reporting systems
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to help fulfill financial analytics and reporting needs
- Provide general analytical and operational support to meet broader business needs
- Adhere to the Capital Rx Code of Conduct, including reporting any identified noncompliance
Skills
- Bachelor's degree, with record of strong academic performance in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or Economics (In lieu of a degree, equivalent relevant work experience may be considered)
- Knowledge of risk management, statistics, financial modeling
- Experience manipulating large data sets, including the ability to analyze and interpret historical claims data
- Proficient in Excel and data visualization tools
- Ability to balance multiple complex projects simultaneously
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Extremely flexible, highly organized, and able to shift priorities easily
- Attention to detail & commitment to delivering high quality work product
- 1-3+ years of proven experience in financial analysis, actuarial services, accounting, pricing & underwriting preferred
- Pharmacy, PBM, or Health Plan experience preferred
- Experience in either SQL, SAS, or R preferred
