Job description: Farmington Public Schools is seeking a Language Arts Tutor at Farmington High School.
Position is 6.5 hours per day, school year and includes health insurance, $30,000 life insurance & LTD, 12 sick days, 3 personal days and 8 paid holidays.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree (Major in English/Language Arts preferred)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Tutors provide instructional support and reinforcement of literacy skills for high school students with a focus on the needs of students in heterogeneously grouped English classes.

The writing tutor works with teachers across the disciplines, but primarily English, in order to support student writing in all content areas. In addition to providing tier I and tier II literacy support in classrooms, the writing tutor develops student-centered protocols that build the dispositions of successful writers through one-on-one support in tutorial.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works with teams of teachers to monitor student progress in heterogeneously grouped English classes and designs interventions for those in need.

Joins teachers? team meetings, as needed, to support curriculum development and identify opportunities for instructional support.

Assists English teachers with differentiated activities in their classrooms.

Provides individual or small group tutorials for students assigned to Writing Tutorial by classroom teachers as well as to students who drop in to the Tutorial as needed.

Works with the English department leader to develop practices to promote self-direction, reflection, and student ownership over the writing process.

Participates in relevant professional development.
Salary: $26.02-$29.06 per hour
