The role OpenTrain is recruiting a Senior Frontend Developer with deep JavaScript experience to contribute to AI training initiatives. This is a contractor, part-time position (20+ hours/week), fully remote and open worldwide. You will focus on frontend architecture and high-quality user interfaces that support projects involving computer code/programming data and coding label workflows. What you'll do • Design, develop, and optimize robust frontend solutions using advanced JavaScript techniques. • Translate business and product requirements into intuitive, responsive interfaces that support AI training tasks. • Lead architectural decisions for frontend codebases and ensure scalable, maintainable designs. • Mentor and coach junior developers; conduct code reviews and promote best practices. • Implement modern frontend frameworks and state-management solutions (React, Vue, Angular, etc.). • Troubleshoot complex issues and proactively resolve performance bottlenecks. • Introduce improvements to development workflows, testing, and CI/CD as appropriate. Requirements You must be an experienced frontend developer with a proven record of delivering sophisticated web applications and driving frontend architecture. • Extensive experience building sophisticated web applications with JavaScript. • Expertise in modern frontend frameworks (for example React, Vue, or Angular) and state management tools. • Demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code. • Strong understanding of web performance optimization and responsive design principles. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience working in remote, distributed teams. • Proven track record of leading development initiatives and mentoring others. Helpful background (nice-to-have) • Experience mentoring or coaching other developers. • Background building accessible and internationalized web interfaces. • Familiarity with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems. Compensation, time, and logistics This is a contractor, part-time role expected to run at 20+ hours per week. The project is fully remote and available worldwide. Pay is per hour in USD.
