We are building an AI-powered interior design platform and are looking for a tech-savvy interior designer (or design student) to research, test, and analyze the latest tools used in the industry.
This role is for someone who is curious, hands-on, and excited about the future of design + technology.
You will not just research — you will actively test tools and break them down.
What you will do:
Research current interior design platforms, tools, and workflows
Test AI and design tools such as:
ChatGPT
Claude
Midjourney
DALL·E
SketchUp
Other interior design/rendering/sourcing tools
Simulate real design workflows using these tools
Document:
What works well
What doesn’t work
Where the tools fail
Where designers still struggle
Create structured summaries (Google Docs / Sheets)
Provide insights on how these tools could be improved
What we are looking for:
Background in interior design/architecture (or current student)
Strong interest in technology and AI tools
Comfortable exploring new platforms independently
Analytical thinking — not just visual taste
Ability to clearly document findings and insights
Curious mindset: you enjoy testing and figuring things out
This is NOT for you if:
You only focus on aesthetics and visuals
You don’t enjoy testing tools or learning new software
Deliverables:
Structured research on tools and competitors
Comparison tables (features, pros/cons, use cases)
Workflow breakdowns
Summary with key insights:
What is missing in the market
Where current tools fail designers
Opportunities for new solutions
Engagement:
Part-time / project-based
Possibility to extend into ongoing collaboration
To apply, please answer:
What design tools and software have you used?
Have you tried any AI tools (e.g. Midjourney, ChatGPT)? How?
Are you comfortable testing new tools and documenting your findings?
Share an example of a project or workflow you’ve worked on
Why are you interested in design + technology?
Positioning note (important for you)
This post will attract:
curious students (high energy, low cost, fast execution)
hybrid designers (rare but valuable)
future product thinkers (potential long-term hires)
It will filter out:
traditional designers
low-effort applicants
purely visual creatives
To apply, please also include:
Attach examples of your work (portfolio, projects, or case studies)
Briefly describe what tools you have used (design + AI tools)
Your availability (hours per day)
Your hourly rate
When you are available to start
ONLY UPWORK application / NO emails or social media
