Technical Sales Engineer – OEM Accounts (Custom DC Starter Motors)

This capability enables us to support OEM customers with both custom DC starter motors and complete system-level solutions , particularly in applications where standard products are not sufficient or do not exist. Role Description This is a full-time remote position, as a Technical Sales Engineer , you will be responsible for : • Develop and expand relationships with OEM customers across target industries • Sell custom-engineered starter motor solutions tailored to specific application needs • Collaborate closely with internal engineering, sourcing, and product teams to deliver integrated solutions • Drive specification of OMI products into new and existing OEM platforms • Manage long, complex, and high-value sales cycles (($0.5M–$10M+ programs) • Build strong relationships with OEM clients and key stakeholders • Conduct product demonstrations and present technical solutions clearly and effectively • Provide technical guidance and support throughout the sales and implementation process Key Responsibilities • Identify target OEM accounts and secure new business opportunities • Drive design-in and specification into equipment platforms (not just one-off sales) • Translate customer application requirements into technical solutions • Coordinate closely with internal engineering teams to ensure successful execution Qualifications • Experience selling into OEMs (industrial, automotive, heavy equipment) • Technical sales background in electrical and/or mechanical systems • Ability to work with engineers and influence specifications • Experience with electric motors, starter motors, or alternators • Experience with platform or program-based selling • Background in heavy equipment, agriculture, marine, or power systems Compensation • Base Salary: $90K–$120K • Commission: Percentage of gross profit • On-Target Earnings (OTE): $150K–$300K+ • Accelerators for landing new OEM programs Who will succeed • Hunters who can break into OEM accounts • Technically curious and solution-oriented professionals • Individuals comfortable navigating long sales cycles and multiple stakeholders
