About the position
VERG Brooklyn is seeking a Staffing Coordinator (Recruitment & Scheduling) to join our growing team. VERG Brooklyn is a leader in 24/7 advanced emergency and specialty veterinary care, dedicated to delivering state-of-the-art medicine across multiple specialties in a diverse, team-oriented environment. As a Staffing Coordinator, you will play an important role in supporting both recruiting efforts and day-to-day staffing operations, helping ensure our hospital teams are well-supported and set up for success.
Responsibilities
• Utilize online job boards, social media platforms, college directories, and industry-specific networks to identify and attract talented veterinary assistants, technicians, and other hospital support roles
• Develop creative sourcing strategies to build a pipeline of qualified candidates for current and future openings
• Conduct initial phone or video screenings to assess candidates’ qualifications, experience, and cultural fit
• Coordinate and facilitate onsite interviews with hospital leadership and HR
• Partner with the team to align candidates with roles that match their skills and career goals
• Provide timely updates to candidates and hiring managers to ensure a seamless candidate experience
• Assist in coordinating onboarding activities for new hires, helping ensure a smooth and welcoming transition into the hospital
• Partner with HR and department leaders to schedule onboarding, training, and orientation activities
• Support communication with new team members prior to their start date and during their initial onboarding period
• Assist in coordinating and supporting hospital-wide support staff scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage across all departments
• Collaborate with department leaders to address staffing gaps and support real-time scheduling needs
• Help monitor staffing levels based on operational demands, patient volume, and acuity
• Support adjustments to schedules to maintain consistent and effective coverage
Requirements
• At least one year of veterinary experience is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with candidates and team members
• Excellent research skills and the ability to gather relevant information on potential candidates
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable learning new technologies and software
• Curiosity and a strong desire to learn about the recruiting process and industry trends
• A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a small, close-knit team
• Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to take initiative in sourcing and project deliverables
• High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality
• Candidates must live in the Brooklyn, NY area.
Nice-to-haves
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree is preferred
• Recruiting experience is strongly preferred
• Potential to flex to a day a week to work from home after 6 months of employment
