Title: Documentary narrator — premium AI-history series (ongoing)
I'm launching a cinematic documentary series about the history of the AI industry — think prestige docuseries, not news, not hype. I need a narrator who sounds like a credible witness telling a serious, dramatic true story.
Voice & tone: authoritative but understated. Warm intelligence over cold formality. Controlled gravitas — the calm of someone who knows exactly what happened and doesn't need to oversell it. Reference points: the narration register of The Social Network, prestige BBC/Netflix documentary, the "this matters and I'm going to tell you plainly" voice. Not hyped, not a movie-trailer voice, not ominous/horror, not overly smooth corporate.
Delivery: measured pacing, comfortable with silence and dramatic pauses, able to land an emotional beat with restraint rather than emphasis. Clear diction, neutral-to-international English accent (open to distinctive accents if they read as credible and authoritative).
Pacing detail: roughly documentary speed — slower than a YouTube explainer. Able to hold tension across a long sentence.
Deliverable: I'll provide scripts of ~2,200–2,800 words per episode (≈15–20 min finished). Need clean, dry, unprocessed WAV (48kHz/24-bit), one take per paragraph acceptable, with the ability to re-read flagged lines. Consistent mic setup and room tone across episodes (this is a series — continuity matters).
Audition: please record the attached 45-second cold open as your test read.
Volume: starting with a few episodes, ongoing if it's a fit. Tell me your per-finished-minute or per-project rate, and your turnaround.
