The Opportunity An established global engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Vice President, Data Center Electrical Engineering Lead to help grow and lead its mission-critical/data center practice. This is a high-visibility leadership role for an accomplished electrical engineer with deep experience in data center infrastructure and a track record of guiding complex projects from early strategy and basis of design through execution and delivery.This individual will act as a senior technical and market-facing advisor for clients, with a focus on electrical systems, power distribution, resiliency, redundancy strategies, and high-performance critical infrastructure. The role will play a key part in shaping the firm's data center engineering strategy, supporting business development, providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams, and expanding its presence in the rapidly evolving mission-critical market.Your Impact In this role, you will drive the growth of the data center electrical engineering function and help expand market reach across hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise clients. You will collaborate with internal technical leaders, clients, and project teams to develop innovative solutions for complex and large-scale data center environments.You will provide senior electrical engineering leadership across pursuits and active projects, support strategic initiatives, mentor engineering staff, and contribute to advancing design approaches in areas such as utility interconnection, medium- and low-voltage distribution, backup generation, and emerging high-density compute infrastructure.Position Summary The Vice President, Data Center Electrical Engineering Lead will oversee electrical engineering strategy, project execution, and technical leadership for mission-critical projects. The role focuses on power infrastructure, including utility coordination, substations, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, grounding, and controls integration, while supporting high-performing technical teams and delivering best-in-class engineering solutions.This position will be involved in business planning, client engagement, technical oversight, staff development, and quality assurance across the data center portfolio.Essential ResponsibilitiesLead the data center electrical engineering strategy with a focus on technical excellence, growth, and client deliveryServe as a senior subject matter expert for electrical systems on mission-critical projects and pursuitsProvide leadership for electrical infrastructure design including medium voltage distribution, substations, switchgear, UPS, generators, and controls coordinationLead and develop high-performing engineering teams, establishing technical standards and mentoring future leadersSupport development and refinement of electrical basis-of-design standards for data centers and critical facilitiesAdvise on large-scale hyperscale, colocation, and campus-style developmentsPartner with leadership to expand client relationships and grow the data center portfolioSupport business development efforts including proposals, client strategy, and interviewsProvide technical review and quality assurance of engineering deliverablesGuide teams through full project lifecycle from concept through construction and commissioningCollaborate across disciplines including mechanical, structural, civil, and architecture teamsEvaluate and implement emerging technologies related to high-density power demands, grid integration, and energy efficiencySupport staffing, resource planning, project financials, and risk managementRepresent the firm in industry forums, conferences, and client engagementsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related disciplineActive Professional Engineer license12+ years of progressive experience with strong focus on mission-critical or data center facilitiesProven experience leading electrical design for data centers or other complex infrastructure projectsStrong knowledge of power distribution, redundancy (N, N+1, 2N), short circuit and coordination studies, grounding, and protection systemsExperience with utility coordination, substations, backup generation, and critical power systemsDemonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and complex project deliveryStrong client-facing experience with owners, developers, and contractorsExperience supporting business development and market growth initiativesProficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SKM/ETAP, and standard engineering toolsPreferred QualificationsExperience with large-scale data center campuses and multi-megawatt developmentsFamiliarity with high-density compute environments and evolving power demands driven by AI workloadsExperience with power system studies, arc flash analysis, and electrical modeling toolsBackground working with owners, contractors, or equipment manufacturersEstablished network within the mission-critical or data center industryExperience building and mentoring engineering teamsLeadership Profile The ideal candidate is a strategic and technically credible leader who can build strong client relationships, translate complex requirements into practical engineering solutions, and lead teams through fast-paced, high-stakes projects.
