Job description: West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), a divisional four-year campus of West Virginia University (WVU) located in southern West Virginia (Beckley), is currently inviting applications for the following fully remote employment opportunity:
The Department of Mathematics within the Leonard C. Nelson College of Engineering and Sciences seeks to establish a pool of instructors for adjunct faculty assignments. This job ad does not relate to a specific teaching opportunity, but courses include four 100-level math courses (Math 121, 124, 126, and 128). EE math classes are online and asynchronous. Course final exams may be scheduled in proctored computer labs at WVU Beckley. Successful candidates will join the adjunct pool and may be assigned 1 or 2 courses mid-August and/or mid-January. Instructors assigned to teach will be provided some virtual course materials and will coordinate with relevant parties to ensure high-quality content delivery along with appropriate student outcome assessment. The position in the adjunct pool is renewable. Instruction is part-time and is not benefits-eligible.
WVU Tech is a regional division of the West Virginia University system and is located in Beckley, West Virginia. WVU Tech is ranked first in the state for return on investment, and seventh in the nation in annual ROI for students paying in-state tuition. There are approximately 1500 students enrolled at WVU Tech. WVU Techs Early Enrollment courses serve hundreds of students in the greater Beckley area and some of these courses function as dual credit courses for local high schools. Qualifications
Qualifications: Applicants must have experience with online instruction and a minimum of a Masters degree in Mathematics or in Education with such candidates demonstrating competency in mathematics. Commitment to teaching excellence, responsiveness to student needs, and good communication skills are essential. An ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching freshman level classes and have flexibility and resiliency.
