Job Purpose
The Business Development Manager – South Korea/Japan at LGC AXIO Proficiency Testing is a newly created role to develop the existing business in South Korea and Japan. The role covers the full LGC AXIO Proficiency Testing portfolio of PT schemes.
The focus of the role is to acquire new channel partners to drive growth, while developing stronger relationships with our existing partners to drive their sales results. The role will also develop relationships and sales opportunities in our existing direct business locally. To develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue goals for direct and distributor channels.
The role will have primary responsibility for revenue and growth of both direct and distribution business in South Korea and Japan, developing strategic initiatives to drive revenue. The individual will provide local technical and operational support for direct account and distributor partners and be able to effectively and efficiently relay communication between LGC AXIO Proficiency Testing functional teams across Technical, Customer Service, Reporting and Logistics to ensure exceptional service and support to the local market. The role will be based out of South Korea or Japan, and develop strong knowledge of market needs in Korea and Japan. The candidate will be required to readily develop understanding of PT and PORTAL reporting in order to offer technical expertise and support, while also having skill-sets to manage customer expectations and address challenges professionally.
The candidate will join the LGC AXIO Commercial Team, reporting to the PT Global Channel Manager. This role requires a blend of laboratory process knowledge, laboratory quality management, understanding of scientific techniques and associated applications, strong organisational skills and project management skills, client communications, client management and service, product expertise, and critical thinking.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, and potential partners
Identify, appoint, and manage new distributors
Grow sales through both existing partners and new business opportunities
Create and deliver business plans to meet revenue targets
Manage and grow direct customer accounts
Build relationships at all levels, from senior leaders to lab staff
Set clear goals and performance targets for distributor partners
Handle and resolve any conflict between sales channels
Promote new products and PORTAL reporting system updates
Represent the company at industry events and customer meetings
Stay informed about market trends, competitors, and customer needs
Work with the marketing team to support product launches
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a smooth customer experience
Use Salesforce CRM to manage accounts, opportunities, and forecasts
Provide regular updates and reports
Develop commercial agreements in line with company policies
Contribute to strategic planning and new product ideas

Qualifications
Knowledge, Experience and Technical skills
Required
At least 3 years’ experience in a sales or commercial role within the science industry
University degree in analytical or related science or excellent relevant experience
Fluent in English – speaking, reading, and writing
Native speaker Korean or Japanese with ideally familiarity with the other language
Knowledge of the laboratory market in the territory
Desired
Significant experience in a customer-facing role
Key or Strategic Account manager experience
Experience of proficiency testing services
Management of channel partners
