Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Hale International is partnering with a public sector organization in search of an experienced Workday Payroll Consultant. The role involves providing immediate post-go-live support and stabilization across their Workday Payroll environment, troubleshooting complex payroll issues, and training internal teams to manage the system effectively moving forward.
Responsibilities
- Assess the current Workday Payroll environment and identify the root causes of critical post-go-live payroll processing and configuration issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve payroll issues affecting a complex, unionized workforce
- Review and improve state retirement reporting processes, including corrections, retroactivity, hours reporting, and period-based reporting
- Assess existing retirement reporting functionality, identify gaps, and support the completion and stabilization of reporting processes
- Review and resolve dependencies between Workday Payroll and Financials, including General Ledger, Journal Entries, Accounts Payable, and related integrations
- Conduct a detailed review of the current Payroll configuration and provide practical recommendations for remediation and optimization
- Partner closely with Payroll, HR, Finance, and operational stakeholders through working sessions, issue-resolution meetings, and solution design discussions
- Provide hands-on knowledge transfer, training, documentation, and upskilling to internal team members with varying levels of Workday Payroll experience
- Support immediate payroll stabilization while identifying opportunities for longer-term process and system improvements
Skills
- Proven experience as a Workday Payroll SME with a strong track record of supporting complex post-go-live stabilization and remediation initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to quickly assess challenging Workday Payroll environments, prioritize critical issues, and deliver hands-on solutions
- Strong experience with Workday Payroll configuration, payroll processing, corrections, retroactivity, and payroll reporting
- Must have Workday Payroll experience within State and Local Government environments, including counties, cities, towns, or similar public sector organizations
- Experience supporting complex payroll environments with unionized employee populations and varying pay rules
- Strong understanding of dependencies between Workday Payroll and Financials, including General Ledger, Journal Entries, Accounts Payable, and downstream integrations
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to operate independently and provide trusted guidance in a high-pressure environment
- Ability to provide effective knowledge transfer, training, and hands-on support to internal teams with limited Workday experience
